Uploading PowerPoint slides

Before uploading your PowerPoint slides, take a quick look at the titles you have given each slide. These titles become the navigation links for the students, so they need to make sense when presented as a list.

What to avoid

Avoid slide titles which are not meaningful when presented as a list, eg:

BEES106 Slide 1
BEES106 Slide 2
BEES106 Slide 3

These will not be very helpful to students who are trying to find a slide on a particular topic.

Best approach

Use meaningful slide titles, which match words used in the lecture, eg:

Swarming – how to prepare
Swarming – recognising the signs
Swarming – dos and don’ts

This approach will help students who are using the slide titles to find the correct PowerPoint slide as they listen to the lecture, or who are using the slides for revision.

How to upload

If you are not already logged on to the online staff tool, log on and choose your unit, so that you can see the following:

There is an ‘upload’ link next to the date/time of each lecture. When you want to upload slides for a lecture, click on this link. Another window will open:

Click on the ‘Browse’ button. A dialog box will open so that you can find your PowerPoint file on your computer. Do this, and select your file. Then click ‘Open’.

Your file should now be shown in the upload window:

Click on ‘Upload File’, and wait until the upload is complete.

File formats

A ll files for uploading must be in PowerPoint format. Unfortunately, other formats such as pdf files do not work with eduStream.

Animations

Animations, eg fly-ins, builds, dissolves, in the PowerPoint slides will not be visible to eduStream users.
