eduStream summary

What is eduStream?

eduStream is the system used to give students access to recorded lectures and other learning materials on the Internet. It offers:

  • audio recordings of lectures
  • PowerPoint slides from lectures (if required)
  • visual images of other materials (some lectures).

Students access their lectures online. Lectures are usually available no later than the day after the face-to-face lecture was recorded.

eduStream lectures can be recorded

At eduStream venues, currently:

  • 20.1, 20.2, 20.3, 20.4, 20.5
  • 25.107
  • 14.G01
  • 35.G45, 35.G20
  • 67.107, 67.104
  • 40.Hope
  • 40.131

or at other locations by using a portable MiniDisc recorder.

The eduStream staff tool

Allows you to upload PowerPoint slides and add details about lectures. The address is: http://ilecture.cedir.uow.edu.au/ilectures/staff/

PowerPoint slides

  • must be a PowerPoint file (eg. not pdf)
  • should have meaningful slide titles, as these are used for navigation
  • the iLectures software will convert your PowerPoint slide to pdf and web formats.

Ensure student access

by placing an eduStream link on the WebCT site for the subject.

Depending on the subject, students can use the computer labs at Wollongong, Bega, Bateman’s Bay, Shoalhaven, Moss Vale and/or Loftus. Students with their own Internet connection can use their home computer.

eduStream needs to be combined with

Two-way activities such as video-conferencing, online discussion groups, email, tutorials, lecturer visits to satellite campuses, phonecalls and consultations.
